The East Riding Petuaria Centre in Brough brings two of the East Riding Council’s award-winning information services under one roof: the Customer Service Network and a state of the art library facility.
This innovative service, the first of its kind in the East Riding, also features Brough Community Centre with a hall and meeting rooms to hire and an Adult Services Centre.
The library is equipped with the latest self-service technology which enables customers to issue, return and renew their own library books and media. There are also 14 computers in the IT suite offering free internet access with a separate browsing area for children.
Residents can also access all council services from the incorporated Customer Service Network helpdesks. For example they can view planning applications, obtain concessionary travel passes and gain advice on benefit and council tax matters. There is also a payment machine for collection of all council payments, Yorkshire Water and Kingston Communication bills.
Facility Supervisor Sarah Smith manages a team of 6 advisors who are highly trained and able to deal with all council related and library enquiries.
Gill Rossiter, Reader’s Advisor, is also based at the Centre to run events, promotions and clubs throughout the year with the common aim of enriching the lives of local residents. Everyone is welcome to attend events and activities such as family history and IT taster sessions, reading groups, pre-school story times and school holiday activities. Events are advertised within the Centre and throughout the local area.
The Petuaria Centre coffee shop opens on Wednesday mornings from 10am to 12 noon offering hot and cold drinks and a small selection of delicious home-made scones and buns.
